Important Hotel Cancellation Policy Change

It has come to our attention that Marriott and Hilton hotels have implemented some cancellation policy changes. Would you like to distribute this to the Athletic department staff/coaches/administrators or would you like me to do so? Here is the verbiage that we would use:

Please be aware that Hilton and Marriott have instituted new last-minute cancellation policies as of Jan 1, 2015. In addition, most hotel chains have also introduced this policy.

If your reservation is not canceled by 11:59PM the day before your scheduled arrival, a penalty will be charged of one night’s room rate. This differs from previously held policies that allowed cancellations without penalty until 6PM on the day of arrival.

Policies have not changed for some hotels that already have more restrictive cancellation policies requiring a two-day, four-day, or longer advance notice. Cancellation policies vary based on demand and location so please check your individual confirmations to verify.
